Where did it come from? I heard that back in the 80's there was this bug infecting mankind. A "Self Sabotage" bug that's out biting people which is contagious and couldn't be cured. No of course that didn't happen. Self-sabotage is nothing more than a mental block. It's not physical. It becomes physical but starts with mental images. The perception of who you are, in your mind's eye, how you see things, good or bad. I can't tell you how many times in a client has said, "I've really been postponing doing this activity." An example could be their business such as making calls. My client will tell me, "I just didn't want to call my clients today." They were scheduled to call the beginning of the month. No calls were made at the beginning, middle or end.

Now, there is tremendous amount of pain. Why? Why did my client not make those phone calls? Simply because he had a mental block. In his mind's eye, he saw something that wasn't good. He chose to see clients firing him. His mental image was the client telling him his services are no longer needed. So that's what he saw in his eye. It's all about the movie he saw in his head. As time went on it got more painful and there was a block. He self-sabotaged himself. The pain finally got him to move and take action and make some calls. To his dismay the calls went very well. The client was pleased to hear from him. What actually happened versus what he chose to see were quite the opposite. He realized the only problem was himself. After making one call and realizing it wasn't bad he made many more calls.

This wasn't a physical limitation - he had the ability to pick up the phone and dial. What blocked him was his mental image. Have you ever had a thought that something was going to go bad? How long did you let this mental image block you? The mental image our mind creates is our perception. Our perception impairs us because of the bad feeling we've created. I've worked with clients all over the world and seen it to many times. Self sabotage holds us back from what we truly desire.

Become aware that you are sabotaging yourself. If you find yourself saying something like, "I know what I need to do.... to become healthy, lose weight, build muscle, I know what to do for my business, for my profession, or as a parent." Whatever it is, they know what they need to do but they don't do it. "Why don't I do it?" Which then I tell them you sabotage yourself. You have this mental block that you allow, that you've conditioned over and over and over to the point where it is not conscious to you at all.

The first strategy in breaking through self sabotage is awareness. I mentioned this is a behavior that you've been doing for so long. You're not conscious of it - you don't see it. So, become aware in other words - wake up. Over the next 10 days put up your antennas and become aware of your sabotage behaviors. Are you going to continue to be your own block to success? To learn more listen to the replay teleseminar - Self Sabotage NO MORE! http://bit.ly/djisabotage

Anything is possible....

Sunday, August 28th I accomplished a major personal goal - I completed the Ironman Triathlon. I'm very blessed, grateful and proud of this accomplishment. This was such a great experience and I learned so much about myself. First, face your fear and and make a decision to go after your goal. Talk is cheap.... Action is the real deal. Once I got into my training I realized I needed to become my own voice. There's a voice in all of us that prevents us from achieving our goals. The voice that says, "Hey nobody else is getting up so early" or "Why are you shooting for such a big goal." This voice needed to be hushed and I did just that! In my coaching business, I've come to realize, we all have a voice that prevents us from playing big in life. This voice creates a mindset and that's are destiny. Your mind is everything. If you want to transform your life, you'll need to transform your mind. Sounds so simple doesn't it. In order for me to accomplish a major endurance race like the Ironman, I need a mindset saying I can. I'm very proud to be amongst the finest triathlon family - Ironman. Anything is possible.... This is a half Ironman. I've finished other half ironman races but this one had a different lesson. So we're all on the same page a triathlon is three sports; swim, bike and jog. A half ironman is a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 jog. What lesson did I learn - finishing. I had the intention of finishing my race at a specific time. Well as the race went on all was good until the jog. It was a very hot day actually it was extremely HOT. As I was making my way through the 13.1 miles, I realized the real goal was finishing. The conditions were much different than I expected so adjusting my outcome never changed - finishing the race. Sure it would have been great to have completed in a better time but finishing it was the ultimate goal. In life we need to adjust our expectations but understand the target never changed - to finish. So let my lesson be a gift to you. Keep your eye on your target and understand how it plays out may be different than you planned. But don't give up, stay with it and finish, you'll still feel amazing and very proud of your commitment. What resources do you need to take your life to the next level?

Group Coaching Teleseries - "Inf"YOU"-n-cial Mastery"

I'm very excited about my upcoming Group Coaching Tele-series - "Inf"YOU"-n-cial Mastery". Let me give you a fact so you understand the reason for sharing my clients experience. Our conscious mind plays the smaller part of our behavior roughly 10-15 percent while the majority 85% of our behavior comes from our subconscious mind. Okay, those are the facts from our scientific world. So what is our subconscious mind? It's a tape recorder a data collector that has been taking it all in since day one. Our subconscious mind doesn't have any filter or judgement. It will play whatever has been conditioned or programed. Let's use an example to illustrate: driving the car. If you've been driving long enough, have you had a moment where you said, "Who's been driving the car?". You get to your destination and wonder how did I get here I can't remember the last couple of minutes? Well that's your subconscious mind taking over. So back to my clients experience. He was meeting with a very important person who he really respected and was somewhat intimidated. My client is allergic to cats and the person he was meeting with had 5 of them. Here's where the mind used it's power to serve. My client was so focused on the person and the value of getting everything out of this meeting. Through his emotional intensity his subconscious mind was able to step in and do whatever was necessary for him to not have any allergic reaction. My client said if I were anywhere else I would have been sneezing and coughing and having a difficult time to breath. This is the power of our mind - subconscious mind.

Make Money

What ever you're striving to achieve more money, better relationships, health or career. Does the first 30-45 minutes matter? I have had many coaching sessions with my clients about starting their day off on the right foot. I believe the first 30-45 minutes in the morning will have a direct result to the rest of the 15 hours your awake. I have found that having morning rituals will bring you happiness. Think about it..... What do you say when you first get out of bed? Oh, today is going to be such a long day... I hate...... You get the point. What you say has such a big impact on your day. You need morning rituals. This doesn't mean you need more time, you just need to change what you're doing with your time. First ask what emotion do you want the morning to set for the rest of the day. Then think about what rituals will support that emotion. Here are some strategies my clients do every morning; exercise, incantations, empowering questions, meditation, nutrition, clarity for the day, reading/listening to motivational materials. This is the short list however you get the idea. Discover your own morning rituals that will bring you happiness every day. Think of the last time you were angry? Do you have the experience back in your body? Okay, is this a feeling you often experience? How often? Now what gives you the permission to be angry? Come on... think about it. Your telling yourself... what? I do all the work around here, he/she just doesn't care, they never listen and the list goes on forever. The point is we give ourselves permission to be angry (or any other unresourceful feeling) because we have this guiding belief it's okay. And, we think by going into this emotional state it will serve us. We'll get their attention, people finally take notice of me, etc. Is that true? Do you really get what you want? If you did why on earth do you still not feel fulfilled? The solution is very simple, you just have to let the feeling go... There's a 5 step plan from Hale Dwoskin which I'll blog on later. Until then just remember you don't have to be in that bad emotional state, let it go.

Plan your week and results will follow

I just wanted to make a quick comment on planning the week ahead. It's now Sunday evening and I'm reviewing the week ahead. I can't stress how important it is to plan out the week. You will get so much more accomplished and feel so much better. Once you do it and see the difference in your life you'll always do it. After planning your week out in advance for about a month this will become a habit. So start "planning tomorrow today" and you'll begin taking charge of your life.
<img width='1' height='1' profound. He said, "If you say "yes" to X you're saying "NO" to Y". That really made a ton of sense to me. I've worked with so many people and so many of them seem overloaded. Being overloaded is stressful and overwhelming which isn't healthy or much fun. What we don't realize is that every "yes" means "no" to somthing else. It can also mean more to do in our life. So before you say "yes" decide what you're going to say "no" too. If you're stressed that's because with every "yes" you're not saying "no" to something else. This is a very simple strategy but effective and powerful. Think before saying "yes" and your life will be better.

What's your purpose?

I have found so many people squirm when asked the question, "What's your purpose?" Why is that? Why do we struggle with knowing our purpose? What's your ultimate purpose in life? Don't we just want to be "happy"? Isn't that the answer? We just want to be happy. Then why so much confusion and difficulty in finding our purpose? I have found that people say one thing however they do the opposite. Here's an example - I want more freedom, choice, time with my family and to make a difference. However, their making decisions every day that actually get themselves further from what they want. They accumulate more stuff expecting happiness.

We are given our purpose/dharma coming into this world (my belief). We go through life searching and seeking when it's already inside. We need to get aligned with our authentic self our divine spirit. If you choose to be happy every day and become unattached to things and more attached to who you are, happiness will be found. Lets face it, life is a journey and our creator wants us to experience life. We'll have victories and defeats, we need both to grow as conscious individuals.

What can you do today that will get you closer to your authentic self?

Web Radio Interview - Wayne Hurlbert

This was a very nice interview by Wayne on April 8, 2010. Over the last couple of years this has been devastating for so many people. What has been the real issue? Should the economy take the full blame? How about those financial institutions that gave the money for nothing to people who shouldn’t of had in the first place. Well we can play the blame game all day long. That won’t resolve anything.
I see it this way – everyone has taken their part in the situation. The people borrowing the money and the financial institutions are both responsible. The question is why? The answer is very simple – human needs. Money is a vehicle that helps people meet their needs. Money was so easy to borrow even though most weren’t qualified. Purchasing that bigger home gave that person the feeling of success. It made them feel significant which is a human need.
What can we learn from this financial disaster? Human needs need to be met at any cost. It’s so important to choose the right vehicle to meet our needs. Money can be a dangerous vehicle. It’s more of a false illusion of success or meeting the need of significance.
The real source of the issue is human emotion. Our emotions lead us to meet our needs. People want success which means a bigger house. The money was easily available so they grabbed it and purchased a home. Emotions are the source of our actions. We need to know how we’re meeting our needs. If you want to feel successful and significant find a vehicle that’s good for you and good for others.

Daily actions compound to success

Success comes one day at a time. I believe there’s so much mystery around success. I actually think people believe it is just going to knock on their front door and say, “I’m here”. We have this instant gratification mentality. We want success now! What is success? Unfortunately, most people measure success by things; money, cars or house. If they don’t have these things, well, then they don’t feel successful.
I’d like to offer you an alternative approach to feeling successful. I’ve personally coached hundreds of people all over the world. So many of them have said, “I know what to do (actions)”. These actions for the most part are simple to do. Here comes a very important distinction – there also simple not to do. We have a choice everyday to do these simple actions or not to do. This is the secret to success. Success doesn’t just show up some day. There is a compounding effect of your actions. By the time you admit you’ve reached success most of the work was done a long-time ago. What you need to do to reach success are actions that are simple to do and simple not to do. Those who are successful understood this theory and disciplined themselves. Those who are still searching for success are dabblers. They don’t do the actions on a consistent basis.
Take one day at a time and make sure you reward yourself every day. Create a strong belief around this theory and allow it to serve you. Success is found when no one is looking – even you.

Concentrate, Focus & Resolve

The lack of focus is one of the biggest challenges with my clients. They can’t put their attention on one task. This drives them crazy because they know this is preventing them from achieving their goals. However their not sure how to fix it. They don’t understand why they can’t see their project through to the end. What they do know is they hate themselves for having this behavior.
I’d like to share a few ideas on how to keep your focus and accomplish your goal. First you must be very clear on what you want. Let’s take a look at an example, how about losing weight. If you’re goal is to feel better or lose weight, you’re in trouble. That’s not a clear outcome, is it? If you don’t know what your target is how are you able to focus? Clarity is really simple but we make it so complicated. So it’s vitally important to get clear. I want to lose 20lbs by April, that’s clear.
Next, get over your story and get out of the way. People lack focus because they have a story why their unable to focus. I don’t have the time… money… skills etc. Your story is the life preserver to get you out of the sea of being uncomfortable. Notice you have a story and ask yourself, “If I choose to keep this story where will my life be in 3 years?” Get the story out of the way because it’s a self fulfilling prophecy.
Having an empowering belief is another nugget to help you stay focused and achieve your goals. Deep within us we have core beliefs that are guiding us unconsciously. We have surface beliefs such as I don’t have the time or I’ll make it happen. Yes these are conflicting but that’s what surface beliefs do. When you dig deeper something like “It will take too long to accomplish” comes out and that’s the limiting belief that guides you unconsciously. So condition a new empowering belief that will support you and most importantly keep you focused.

Pain if you don't.... Pleasure if you do!

We make decisions based off pain and pleasure claims Tony Robbins. Not physical but emotional. It has amazed me how “we” have conditioned thoughts of creating terrifying scenario’s. In our minds eye we see something not working out which, most of the time, never comes to reality.

What you need to do is stop focusing on your pain. Pain ultimately is more of a thought than it is real. Look at it this way, the thought of burning your finger with a match versus actually burning your finger. The thought in your head creates enough pain for you to avoid burning your finger. If we focus on what we classify as pain it creates emotion which leads to our behavior. The question is what’s your behavior?

Typically we spend too much time focusing on our pain. However the pain comes from our thoughts. And our behavior is to avoid the pain so we stop. What I suggest is you focus on pleasure. Focus on the pleasure of moving forward. Think of climbing a mountain. It takes a lot of work. You huff and you puff your way to the top. You’re climbing and looking at the top and you’re thinking I have such a long way to go. Did you ever take time to just stop and turn around and look how far you’ve actually gone up the mountain? We need to do more of that.

Focus on the pleasure, the things that you’ve done already. That’s so important. We need to celebrate. You don’t want to wait to achieve the goal and then celebrate because it could take awhile. Are you going to be miserable the whole time? No, that doesn’t make any sense. We need to celebrate more. We need to focus more on the pleasure than we do the pain.

What you need to start doing is breaking that pattern. Celebrate everyday for accomplishing your activities.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://darryljarmosco.blogspot.com/2009/12/pain-if-you-dont-pleasure-if-you-do.html' title='Pain if you don't.... Why do we have them? How do we get rid of them? Is there such a thing as being fearless?
What is fear? It’s difficult for many of my clients to explain. There’s the acronym F.E.A.R. False Evidence Appearing Real. I define fear as resistance to uncertainty. I’ve had clients say they fear success. What do they mean they fear success? Most of our lives are first scripted in our minds like a movie. Who are the author and producer? You are author, producer, actor and critic! If you don’t like the movie then you’ll make sure it never opens and premiers.
The movie I’m talking about is your thoughts. It’s your perception of how life might play out. Perception is meaning created by our senses. We have five senses see, hear, taste, touch and smell. The three main senses used the most in our thoughts are visual, auditory and kinesthetic (feeling). The other senses are used as well, especially when you think of your favorite pizza. Your mouth waters and you begin to smell the pizza. Guess what you have for dinner that night – salmon; not, pizza! It’s what they see in their minds eye. So when the client says, I fear success, he is seeing a future vision he doesn’t like. He visualizes himself closing activities which bring him results however he’s very concerned if he can continue to get the same results long-term. He’s wondering, “Will I have to work so hard the rest of my life?” “What will I sacrifice along the way?” These are thoughts where the three senses create a certain emotional feeling for him. This emotional feeling is very real. Emotion equals motion. When you’re movie (thoughts) produces feelings of doubt, anger and anxiousness. How much are you willing to commit and take action? Not much.
This story is both fiction and non-fiction. The fiction is his thoughts about success. Those thoughts have a great chance of never becoming reality. They only become reality once he stops and sabotages his action plan. That’s the non-fiction of his story. Remember the quote, “As he thinks, so he is.” His thoughts become his reality.

Happy Birthday Dad & Brother

Happy Birthday to my Dad and my brother Dan (12/9)! A point of reference is a specific experience that you tend to go to very often. Otherwise said, your mind thinks about this event and will revisit it often. You develop a belief around this experience and it becomes your point of reference. So what does this all mean, well it means a lot rather you realize it or not. Now, the important question to ask, can a point of reference be good or bad? It can be both.

Let's take a look at an example, how about a good point of reference. An individual has been delivering presentations over the last couple years that have been going very well. This particular person had been very fearful of public speaking in the past. Now looking ahead his point of reference is I'm a growing speaker. This makes him feel great and confident and wanting more of public speaking.

Now let's check out an example of a bad point of reference. This individual has been really struggling with developing business and getting sales. He's a commercial loan officer and his primary role is to get new business. Because he's been struggling for quite some time he's developed a language pattern that he says too much. He'll often say, "I'd rather be mediocre instead of being a champion". He feels why work so hard and get so little. So his point of reference is mediocre instead of being a champion.

Is it clear that there's a difference between these two individuals? Can you see how the first person will grow and get results? And how the second will continue to struggle and truly be unhappy about his life. What is your point of reference? Is it serving you and bringing your life to the next level? Take some time to develop an empowering point of reference. Use it as much as you like and it will serve you.

Pennies to Success

Do you ever wonder how the heck you reach success? There are many theories and philosophies but what's really important is your very thinking. I'm an avid reader of books that help me live my potential. Jeff Olson the author of "The Slight Edge" is one of those books that really hit home. Jeff shares a story about a dying father who has two sons. The father wants to help his son's learn the value of decisions about their actions. He gives them two choices, take a million dollars now or take a box which has a penny inside. The box with the penny will double for 30 days. After they choose they need to come back and report their results. Well I'll leave what happens for you to find out. The moral of the story is that we need to do the actions that are simple to do but are also simple not to do. Success comes from compounding activities over time. Every day your actions are pennies, if you judge that specific day you only see pennies. You may get very discouraged and stop your actions. DON'T STOP. The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson is a must read.

Goal Setting for 2010

Well, the New Year is just around the corner, are you ready? Jim Rohn was a leader and put others first with a servant's heart.

Here's a tribute that was put together to learn more about a great man, http://tribute.jimrohn.com

Comments welcomed........

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://darryljarmosco.blogspot.com/2009/12/thank-you-jim-rohn-thank-you.html' title='Thank You Jim Rohn... Well over the last month this thought came to me when observing my five year old son Blake. He just started his first organized sport – soccer. Well, the organized part is debatable. However after watching the boys play in the game and at practice, I noticed the little guys had a pause before action. As the season went on I could tell which boys played before. Their pause was limited and didn’t happen as often. They also seemed to score all the goals too. So why do the boys hesitate anyways? Let’s take a look at what might be going on with the pause or hesitation. I don’t think it has to do with their physical ability. Their knowledge for the game seems equal, just kick the ball. The difference between the boys who hesitate versus those who don’t boils down to their thinking. The cause is their conscious mind and subconscious too. Will I get hurt? What am I doing? What do I do with the ball? I’m confused with all these boys around me… So it’s their mind that causes the hesitation. The boys who have played before have developed a different mind for the game. Their hesitation has been limited and they get better results. So what’s your hesitation been holding you back from? Have you had opportunities right in front of you that were lost? Did you see them as opportunities when presented or just more work? You hesitated, “I don’t have time” or “I don’t have the money” or “I don’t blah, blah, blah”. What’s going on with the little boy’s playing soccer isn’t any different with what’s going on with you. Your hesitation is stopping you from getting results. In order to eliminate the hesitation you need to just act. It comes down to the split second that determines results.

The crazy eight of emotions

Do you realize you live your life experiencing about 6 to 8 emotions? Oh, yes there are so many more emotions to feel and live. However, we've become very dependent on certain emotions and we've conditioned them so well its difficult to break away. The crazy eight of emotions has to do with you going from the good emotions; happy, confident and determined. To the other side which I refer to as the unresourceful emotional states; hopeless, overwhelmed and frustrated. As you look at the picture see the right side of the horizontal eight as your resourceful emotional states. Each side of the crazy eight represents the emotions you experience the most. So on the right side you have happy, confident and determined. And, on the left side you have hopeless, overwhelmed and frustrated. The process of the crazy eight is you going from side to side. The goal is to live your life on the right side, the resourceful emotions. Awareness is key to create change this is happening in your life. What side of the crazy eight are you living? You're human so it's okay to experience unresourceful emotional states. The bigger question for you, how long do you live there? The more you live a life wearing happiness, excitement, determination, passion, commitment.... the more life you live!

Are you prehistoric?

Watch out the dinosaur's are back...! Okay, I'm just kidding and I'm sure you didn't believe me (I hope you didn't). I want to use the dinosaur as a metaphor. As humans one need that's very important is growth. Are you growing or becoming extinct like the dinosaur's? What I've found as a great point of measurement of personal growth is how comfortable you are. How comfortable is your life? Do you find it easy going and possibly a little boring? When we live in the circle of comfort we aren't living an exciting life and we're definitely not growing. So what does it take to get outside of the circle of comfort? Well first you have to make a decision you want more from life. Then raise your standards in your personal and professional life. Whalla... Don't become extinct and live a comfortable life. Live a rich bold life full of possibility! What decision can you make right now to take your life to the next level? Take action NOW.

Enjoying summer before it passes you by...

When my coaching call begins I often ask my client, "What victories did you have last week?" There's usually a pause then they'll typically say, "not much". This is a very common pattern with many clients. After I ask the question their mind searches for something to report. If it's not big enough they reply "not much". Okay here's the lesson - we have victories all around us. We need to pay attention and take notice of the smiles of our loved ones. That we live in a country where we can dream as big as we want. So take notice right now, it's a perfect time of the year to enjoy the warmth and summertime play. You have so many victories in your life so begin to focus on them. Here's one of my victories, coaching my little 4 year boy golf. You need to be very careful what emotional feelings you're creating for the customer. If you're negative and down they won't perceive that you have any value. If they don't feel you have confidence in getting the job done then they won't have confidence in you. So always remember that perception of value is a standard that needs to be high. This will help keep the relationship together in tough times. Let's first define, Karma is action. The meaning around Karma is either good action or bad action, either way it will come back to you. So if you help an elder carry their groceries out to their car that's good Karma. This good action will come back to you as it goes out into the universe. How? That depends maybe a week later you get a nice compliment on your work... You never know, the theory behind Karma is that you do good things now and good things will come back to you. On the flip side if you do bad things then bad things will happen to you. So go out into the world and be a servant of good and the universe will pay you back.

Book review - "As a man thinketh"

With so much focus on this poor economy its imperative to take care of our thoughts. If you keep listening to the media and the negative people around you, you're going to have bad thoughts. That's why I highly recommend "As a man thinketh" by James Allen. This book will enlighten you on how important your thoughts are directly related to your happiness. It's a very read and a great resource to turn to as much as needed.

Closing the Gap

When I see a bridge it reminds me of connecting to points A and B. In life we have a lot of bridges to cross. Well at least we should unless were taking an alternate route. Taking an alternate route most likely will be longer and its possible you may not get to your destination. What bridges are you crossing in your life right now? Are you crossing too many bridges and struggling? You need to decide what's the most important bridge to cross right now. Assess where you are, get clear, before you keep "trying" to cross. The most important action is to know "why" you want to cross the bridge. Then compile a list of actions that will propel you over the bridge to the other side! So remember, get clear, know why you want to cross in the first place and take massive action. Before you started in your mind's eye it seemed easy, a straight shot. Then you get into it and realize how difficult it is or how slow it seems to be progressing. The reality is anything worth going after takes a fair amount of energy and it's not a straight line. You have to stay the course and find instant gratification in your actions. Remember the actions are easy to do and there also easy not to do. The difference between the person growing and achieving success is their commitment to do the actions all the time. And, you need to give time for your goals to come to fruition. You don't plant a tomato seed and expect to pick tomato's the next day, do you? So remember that its not a straight line to success. Enjoy the journey!

Inspiration by environment

Aloha!

My family arrived here in Kaua'i Hawaii and it is paradise. Over the last couple of days, I've really noticed my mind open and become so much more clear. Life is demanding but let's face it, we make it that way. When you get out of the busy environment you'll notice different thoughts enter your mind. My thoughts have been inspiring and bigger just from last week. So find time to get out of the normal routine and environment and get away. Hey, if you can come to a place like Hawaii more power to you. I spoke to the Coopersville MOPS group and they were a lively bunch. I spoke about the power of whole food nutrition "Growing Healthy Families". As parents, we need to understand the influence we have on our children's eating habits. Lets focus on prevention versus disease. They really enjoyed the information and I really enjoyed the opportunity to speaking to them.

I also enjoyed speaking to the St. Patrick's MOMS group on Thursday about time management. I provided the secret to time management which is emotions. Time isn't our problem, the problem is the lack of control of our emotions. I provided some excellent procedural strategies based off my product Plan Tomorrow Today. Days pass, weeks pass and you feel exhausted and nothing seems to be getting done. Well it's possible you've overlooked the fundamentals of scheduling your day. I've spent hundreds of hours with my clients and it shocks me to hear them tell me they don't have a system in place. What about all the technology? It hasn't help or at least that's how I feel. I actually think it's made it more complicated. So keep it simple and use the old fashion way "paper and pencil". Start planing tomorrow today. Simply plan what you want to accomplish by scheduling and committing. Hey, think about it, do you want to continue this pattern of frustration? Then plan your day and execute.

July's Newsletter - Shout off your inner voice

Shhh, stop for just a minute and listen.... Do you hear anything? What you can't stop, not only for one minute. Oh, I see, you have too much "to do" and you can't afford to stop and take time to just listen. You might be asking yourself, "What exactly am I listening for." Well, that would be you. Your inner voice has the power to take complete control of your life. Do you realize that inner voice of yours can and does make your life miserable? How many of you feel exhausted at the end of the day or week? Well, that's because you're carrying around with you a thousand pound gremlin. The gremlin, I'm referring to is the chatter in your head. So, when might this gremlin show up? All the time! Here are a few examples of what he/she might say:

"Why didn't you workout today?"
"That's it! You're only going to make 10 sales calls today?"
"Yeah right, lose weight after a lunch like that, good luck."
"You're not doing enough work to make money"

You get the idea, right? We need to be aware of that inner voice, the gremlin, because it will wear you down. I've noticed when I'm coaching my clients at times I'm talking to their gremlin not them. It stands out because of the stringent rules of perfection. Your gremlin never rests and never gives up, as long as, you allow it to continue.
The first thing I'd recommend to shout it off is awareness. Realize you have a gremlin and it is very controlling. Then you have to stop and listen or at least just listen. What are you saying to yourself? Are you saying anything like the examples above? Just be present, listen and breathe. When your gremlin speaks ask, "Is it true?". Get very familiar with your gremlin and laugh it off and tell it to shut up!

Breaking Boards in Monroe, MI

Saturday, June 7, I had an amazing opportunity to do a training in Monroe, MI for a group of outstanding NSA Juice Plus+ distributors. It went so well primarily because of their willness to play fullout. Have you ever attended a workshop or presentation and you leave with good information but felt something was missing? Well there's a good chance something was missing. So many presentations are just at the first level which is intellectual. Meaning you get the information being presented and it makes sense and you understand it. Not only do you get it, but you expect change in your life because of this new information. Well learning new information isn't enough, we need to apply it and use it or as I say, "put it on". That's exactly what we did in Monroe and we learned to breakthrough by being in a peak emotional state. Everyone broke a board!

May 2008 Momentum Newsletter

The Power of Questions
Rather you realize it or not your always asking yourself questions. You might be thinking, so what. Well, we become the questions we ask ourselves. If you ask poor questions, such as, "Why do I have to keep calling these dumb people back?". The odds are high your going to come up with some pretty poor answers. The natural behavior that follows will be an unresourceful emotional state. So we need to ask better question so we come up with better answers. Questions have the power to make change in your life right now! So if you want to change something in your life please set some time aside and answer these questions.

What are three of the most important things you need or want to change or improve in your life right now?

Of these three, which is the most important for you to change right now?

If you fail to change or improve this area of your life, what will it ultimately cost you?

If you could truly change X to what you want, how would your life be greater? What would happen and how would you benefit? What would the results be?

If I had a system that could absolutely help you achieve X, would you commit to whatever is necessary to take advantage of it?

Grab your calendar and write in the following date when your going to take action.

Instant Gratification

I've found a common issue with my clients that hold them back in accomplishing their goals - instant gratification. It seems most people want the goal but really its not the goal they want, its the benefit of the goal. If you have a real fairly challenging goal your currently working towards you've most likely felt the bite of instant gratification. We want the goal right now or as I mention the benefit. Now what is the true benefit achieving a goal? It's the emotional benefit, right! The feeling is the fuel and we feel deprived when the goal seems so far. So figure out what emotion this goal will give you - joy, excitement or a sense of accomplishment. Then ask yourself do I have to wait to accomplish this goal to experience my desired emotion. Of course not and you already have proof. Have you ever reached your goal and didn't feel all that excited, why not? Because you experienced the goal so many times in your thoughts as if you accomplished it which made you feel joy, excitement etc. So when you feel the instant gratification bug has bitten you remember to feel the feeling you want when accomplishing the specific goal and you can have it right now!

Networking

Today I had the distinct honor to be the featured speaker for the Grand Haven Chamber's Leads Groups Business Education Seminar. If it does networking is such a powerful way to grow your business. I realize there are so many ways to market however I believe the best is to build solid relationships with people. Getting in front of people can't be replaced however we often find ourselves email versus calling. We lose the connection when we don't directly communicate with our friends and colleagues.
